5 medicinal plants for skin and hair

Burdock

Thanks to the mild antibacterial effect of burdock root, it has become an excellent natural remedy to combat skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis or acne.

To take the burdock root you just have to cut it into thin slices with a knife or peeler and add it to salads. It can also be applied directly externally on the affected area preparing poultices or with the infusion itself.

Calendula

This medicinal herb can be used to give hair shine and life . You just have to prepare an infusion with 1 liter of water and 60 g of fresh calendula flowers (use only 30 g if you use dried flowers) and let it rest overnight. The next day you strain it and you have your hair and scalp tonic. It keeps well up to 4 days in the fridge or refrigerator.

Using this plant externally and locally, it is very useful and beneficial to improve irritated skin , insect bites or sunburns. You can use it preparing plasters or adding it in the preparation of creams, oils, etc.

Gotu kola or gotu kola

This medicinal plant is indicated to improve the appearance and health of the skin : it accelerates the production of collagen, which helps to delay skin aging and reduces or eliminates scar marks due to its anti-inflammatory property, it has antiseptic properties, so it helps to clean wounds, eliminate pimples, fight psoriadis, burns or eczema

It is also effective for scalp conditions, such as dandruff, stimulates hair growth and adds shine.

Henna

Henna is believed to have been in use for the past 8,000 years, and is considered to be the most important herbal remedy for coloring hair. Henna gives the hair a lot of shine, volume, softness, prevents frizz or frizz, it is also effective in eliminating dandruff and caring for the scalp by rebalancing it and avoiding excess oil or dryness. Laurel

Laurel leaves help eliminate dandruff and also stimulate hair growth . To use them you only need to prepare an infusion with 300 ml of water and 6 bay leaves. You leave it overnight and in the morning you strain it and it is ready to use. It is applied directly to the scalp giving an energetic massage for 5 minutes, no need to rinse afterwards.

In addition to hair, bay leaves are great for skin infections due to their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. You can take a bath with some bay leaves and their infusion, prepare oil infused with bay leaves (you can do it like this ) or apply plasters directly on the area to be treated.
