Eyebright, a medicinal plant for cases of conjunctivitis, sinusitis, cough, sore throats or stomach disorders.

The Euphrasia (Euphrasia officinalis) , is from very old among the plants most used. It was said that it cured “all evils of the eye” and was described as a source of “precious water that clarifies the vision of man.”

His name is of Greek origin, and means “joy”. This same word serves to designate the goldfinch that, according to another old tradition, is said to have been the first to use its leaves to clarify the vision of its offspring and then transmit this knowledge to men.

It is an annual plant with a low, branched stem and opposite, small and serrated leaves. In the axil of these leaves, flowers that can be white, yellow or purple, clearly bilabial, are born. Its fruit is a capsule. It usually grows on mountain passes, wet meadows, pastures and even forests throughout Europe.
