Home remedies for back pain

The back pain is very common and almost everyone gets to suffer at some point. The most common pains are located in the cervical and lumbar area . It is a very annoying pain that can affect our daily tasks and even force us to stay in bed and rest. To speed up and improve recovery we can use natural remedies .

Back pain can be caused by poor posture for hours (for example, poor posture when sleeping), something very common in neck or cervical pain, by a blow, during the last months of pregnancy, by bad habits to when lifting weight, muscle weakness, spinal deviations, sports injury, flat feet, carrying too much weight, sustained stress, medication, etc.

  • La Verbena has great sedative and analgesic power, which will help us to reduce or eliminate pain and promote rest and relaxation. It is prepared in infusion and a cloth is soaked that will be applied on the area that hurts us.
  • Applying St. John’s wort oil will be very beneficial to relax the muscles and fight pain due to its calming and analgesic properties.
  • Taking a hot bath adding 500 ml of cider vinegar to the water promotes muscle relaxation.
  • The Devil ‘s Claw is an herb that is an excellent natural remedy for pain. It can be taken as an infusion or applied in compresses on the affected area.
  • Hot clay plasters are also effective in treating back pain naturally.
  • Massaging the area with calendula oil  will help reduce inflammation and possible muscle spasms.

To avoid back pain in the future, it is highly recommended to practice sports on a regular basis, especially swimming or other sports performed in the water. Other sports or disciplines are very beneficial to strengthen the back and abdomen, such as Pilates. It is also advisable not to be overweight, to use appropriate footwear, that the mattress on which we sleep is neither too hard nor too soft, or to maintain a good posture when sitting.
