Homemade cosmetics: lemon and chamomile lip balm or protector

With this protector or lip balm we protect and hydrate our lips without adding harmful chemicals that we find in the vast majority of those we find in stores. It has a pleasant lemon scent and leaves lips very soft thanks to the protective and nourishing properties of chamomile.    You can vary this recipe according to your preferences and needs, take a look at the  properties of medicinal plants  and the  essential oils  that you like the most to customize it.

You need:

  • 2 level tablespoons shea butter
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa butter
  • 1 tablespoon dried chamomile
  • 1 teaspoon of vitamin E
  • 15 drops of lemon essential oil
  • Tubes or containers in which you want to store the balm

Preparation of the lip balm:

Put the coconut oil in a water bath over low heat and add the chamomile. For 1 hour stir from time to time, remember, over low heat. Remove from the heat and let it rest. The longer you let it rest, the greater concentration of chamomile properties will remain in the oil. Once it has cooled completely and we have left it to rest (at least 2 hours), strain and add the shea butter and cocoa butter (already melted over low heat in the water bath), the vitamin E and the lemon essential oil. . We mixed all the ingredients well. Then fill the containers where you are going to store the balm with the mixture, you can put it in the fridge to speed up the process (especially if it is hot)
