Learn about oil pulling therapy for a healthy mouth

Oil therapy, known in English as oil pulling  (literally translated as oil extraction ), has been used in Ayurvedic medicine to improve and maintain oral health and whiten teeth  and is very easy to do at home.

Oil pulling has been used in India for thousands of years and was introduced in the 90s in the US by Dr. F. Karach, who did studies and practices on its medicinal properties, and he even used it to treat diseases and symptoms such as arthritis, asthma, headaches , skin problems, infections of all kinds, liver problems, intestinal problems, relieves allergies, fights bad breath, hormonal alterations, among others.

The oil is capable of removing dental plaque and eliminating harmful bacteria, toxins and microorganisms. It has an effect on the whole organism because bacteria and all kinds of microorganisms can access the blood very easily from the mouth and from there cause all kinds of conditions, so if we maintain a healthy mouth we help to keep the whole body healthy.

How to do oil pulling or oil rinses

Need 1 or 2 tablespoons sesame oil (sesame) , coconut oil , sunflower or olive oil . The preference would go in that order. The oil must be ecological and unrefined (first cold pressing).

It is done in the morning on an empty stomach (before drinking or eating anything) and if we need it, 2 more times a day and always before meals.

Simply take 1 or 2 tablespoons of the oil and keep it in your mouth making sure that it travels all the teeth and spaces in the mouth, it should be for 20 minutes. If at first you cannot reach that time, do not worry, you will increase with practice.

Do not swallow the oil, it will be full of bacteria and debris, spit and rinse your mouth well with warm water two or three times.

It is important to keep the oil for 20 minutes to achieve the desired results.
