Characteristics of the Campanula carpathica

The campanula is a creeping or erect plant . It usually reaches a height of 10 to 25 cm, it is usually grown as a biennial although in places with a benign climate it can behave as a perennial. The stems are green in color and the leaves can be of different shapes (elongated, heart-shaped, serrated, lanceolate, round, dark green, glaucous green, light green or grayish green). The flowers are bell-shaped more or less open, starry, slightly hanging, white, lilac, blue, pink, violet or purple.

Caring for Campanula carpathica

Plant widely used in massifs and rockery, as well as terraces, balconies and as a cut flower. Being a species that needs little energy to grow fast, it is necessary to complete a considerable space for its growth.

It is resistant and lives in sunny and shady places, but it requires natural light, especially in the morning.

The care is simple, it is only enough that the soil is moist, limestone and well drained.

Watering is moderate, but be careful not to flood it. Pruning should be done only to remove old flowers and thus allow vigorous and healthy bloom to flourish.

Flowering takes place from May to August. During the period after flowering, a soluble mineral fertilizer mixed with irrigation water must be supplied.

Multiplication can be done by seed in autumn, or by division of the bush in spring at the end of summer.

As for diseases, the one that could be susceptible to the plant is neck rot. This is because the soil remains wet for a long time and the temperature is high, causing the death of the plant. It can even be attacked by rust.

A plant that for its beauty and easy care is worth reverence in the garden or as a centerpiece in a beautiful vase or bouquet. Did you know it? What color of flower do you think looks better? Do you like it? Tell us about your experience.
