The Asian flora is very diverse. Asia is a vast continent that has areas of steppes, mountains, large lakes, deserts such as those of Arabia, and coniferous forests. If you want to know them, then I will leave you two plants of Asian origin that you should have in your garden and balcony .

We recommend you read: Grow herbaceous peonies.

Peony (Paeonia lactiflora)

The peony lactiflora is part of the ranunculáceas family and is of Asian origin. It is a perennial herbaceous plant with a tuberous rhizome, which can grow from 0.50 to one meter in height. It has alternate lower leaves, with oval-lanceolate leaflets, and slightly trimmed or simple upper leaves.

On the other hand, its flowers are solitary, large and perfumed and can be found in double white, red or pink, 10 to 15 cm in diameter.

Its flowering time is in late spring and its destination is the garden and the deep pot. The adaptation of the peony is very good , as long as you provide it with a fertile, loose, deep and slightly acid soil, and a bright position with direct sunlight during the morning.

This plant is resistant to cold and the parasitic causes do not affect it. On the other hand, it prefers a humid atmosphere and moderate watering every four to five days in the summer.

Fertilize with 100 to 200 g of bone meal in early spring and 10 grams of compound fertilizer when the buds appear. If you want to reproduce the peony , do it by division of clumps in the fall or by root cuttings in late winter. It flowers three or four years after planting.

Brinco (Impatiens balsamina)

The impatiens balsamina, also known as brinco, is part of the balsamin family and is of Asian origin. It is an annual herbaceous plant, erect, with a simple stem, little branched, which can reach 70 cm in height.

Its leaves are lanceolate, serrated, and can be 4 to 8 cm long. Its single or double flowers can be found in a wide range of colors: white, pink, yellow, red, etc., with a curved spur.

Its flowering time is in summer and its destination is the garden and the balcony. Although it adapts very well and is easy to cultivate, you will need fertile, loose and deep soil, with a river hangover or mulch. On the other hand, you must provide an intense luminosity, in full sun and a humid atmosphere.

The jump is not resistant to cold , so temperatures below 4 ° C affect it. To keep it in optimal conditions, fertilize with 300 grams of bone meal per square meter of flowerbed and plant spaced 10 – 15 cm apart.

Propagate by seedling in spring  and do not worry about parasitic causes, since it is resistant.
