Aloe Vera to eliminate Psoriasis

If you suffer from psoriasis, nothing we can say about this skin disease would surprise you except for one thing you may not have known about; Not only does aloe vera improve psoriasis symptoms, it cures it too!

You already know that the skin can crack producing pain in the entire affected area, not to mention the unsightly part, where the skin totally changes in its shape and color.

Before we start we have to remember that psoriasis is not contagious, therefore it is not passed from person to person by contact or any other way.

What is psoriasis?

We quickly describe what psoriasis is in order to understand how aloe vera helps to cure Psoriasis; It is a skin condition (not a disease) where certain flaky and brittle areas occur on the skin, leaving it with a whitish or silver appearance.

As a general rule, almost all people affected by psoriasis have it in small areas of the body. Sometimes this psoriasis causes itching or pain, but what is most often worrisome is the unsightliness of these areas on the elbows, knees, lower back or scalp, but they can be located anywhere on the body.

As a figure of the number of people who suffer psoriasis in Spain, it affects around 2.3% of people. It can start at any age, but most of the time it develops in adults under the age of 35, and affects men and women equally.

The severity of psoriasis varies greatly from one person to another. For some it is just a minor irritation, for others it can greatly affect their quality of life.

Psoriasis is a long-term (chronic) condition that usually involves periods when you have no symptoms or mild symptoms, followed by periods when symptoms are more severe. It is very important not to confuse Psoriasis with Seborrhea.

Symptoms of psoriasis

As we said before, small areas of dry skin appear, reddened in the deep part and covered by scales of tones that go from white to silver. As the most notable symptom, apart from the aesthetic component, some people suffer from itching and pain where psoriasis occurs.

We are not going to go into depth in the types of psoriasis that exist but we have to say that it is normal for people to suffer only one type of psoriasis at a time, however, there are cases in which several types occur at the same time or that one type evolves into a more severe one.

Psoriasis usually goes through cycles in which for a few weeks or months more pain is passed and then relieved or stopped completely.

That said, if you think you have any type of psoriasis, see your doctor for a professional diagnosis.

Does aloe vera help psoriasis?

Aloe vera is a plant with leaves filled with a gel with many healing properties, whose main quality is the inflammatory, analgesic and moisturizing effect. Aloe vera can help you from curing any oral problem , to eliminating stretch marks and dark circles , osteoporosis , as a substitute for shaving gel and of course psoriasis.

Let’s remember that one of the symptoms of psoriasis were those painful and annoying patches of inflamed, dry and brittle skin that can even crack and cause bleeding, in this way aloe will calm us, reduce inflammation and improve hydration.

So aloe vera only attacks symptoms and doesn’t cure psoriasis? Yes and no.

Indeed, aloe vera improves the symptoms produced by psoriasis but thanks to this our body does not have to worry about relieving inflammation or infection in cases of bleeding and can focus on healing since the only thing that cures the human body is itself organism.

In addition, with the improvement of symptoms, the confidence and security of the patient increases so that their mentality becomes positive, which helps the body to self-heal.

Benefits of aloe vera for psoriasis.

There are many studies that have certified that aloe vera is effective in the treatment of psoriasis, and in very high percentages of all patients treated. However, for different reasons, the use of aloe in the treatment of psoriasis is considered natural medicine and therefore the best contrasted results are given by those people who decide to use natural means to improve their quality of life.

While the effects of aloe vera are not specifically proven for psoriasis, experience shows that it is beneficial for certain symptoms:

Helps heal wounds.

Aloe vera gel has a compound called glucomannan, which affects the growth of skin cells and accelerates wound healing. As a result, the wounds caused by psoriasis (cracked skin and bleeding) are healed thanks to the aloe vera gel.

Helps the skin to produce collagen.

Aloe vera gel can make the skin produce more collagen. In addition to contributing to the healing process, collagen helps keep skin elastic and firm.

The glucomannan contained in aloe vera stimulates collagen production and collagen improves skin elasticity, so an increase in collagen production can help reduce the scaly patches caused by psoriasis.

Reduces inflammation

Aloe vera gel can reduce inflammation, which is a symptom of both psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. We have an article dedicated to aloe vera for inflammations that we recommend you should read.

Improves hydration.

Aloe vera gel can help improve skin hydration, although not when used on a regular basis.

Aloe vera gel improves skin hydration after a few weeks of application, however, after more weeks of use its effect may disappear causing the opposite effect.

Better hydration of the skin can help a person with psoriasis prevent the patches on their skin from cracking. Single applications of aloe vera gel might be helpful in this way, but it may not be beneficial if used repeatedly.

Home treatment with aloe vera against psoriasis

You can buy an Aloe Vera plant and cut a branch from your new plant (make sure it is at least two years old, otherwise it will not meet all its healing properties). Try to cut a large leaf because if you cut a small one or your plant is still developing you could stop this growth.

Try to take branches from the lowest area of the aloe plant since these are the oldest and therefore, the ones that accumulate more healing properties as they are the most mature.

You don’t need a lot of aloe vera juice to treat the affected area, but keep in mind that the process will repeat itself for a week so you should prepare a clean container where you can store the excess for the entire treatment.

Once you have the leaf in your hands, rinse to remove traces of earth and other elements that could contaminate the pure aloe vera gel that we want to obtain. After having rinsed it you must remove all the edges and peel to obtain the inner pulp or gel, for this you can help yourself with a ladle or knife.

Once you have removed all the aloe vera glass, store it in a container with a lid and take a small amount from it to apply directly to the affected area. Leave the gel on the area for a few minutes and then cover the area with gauze until you feel that the skin has absorbed all the aloe vera.

We recommend applying Aloe at least twice a day for a week, after having thoroughly cleaned the area before application.

This is a very simple treatment using aloe vera crystal, you just need an aloe vera leaf or stalk and gauze. If you suffer from psoriasis, it is the perfect excuse to get this wonderful plant and incorporate it into your life. If you continue on this website you will discover many other benefits it has.
