Belle at night

How and how much to water the Bella di Notte

One of the most important peculiarities concerning the beautiful night is that it requires constant and abundant watering, especially in the hottest periods of the year, or in the summer months of July and August. However, watering must take place only when the soil has completely dried up and has become dry, in order to prevent any stagnation of water that could cause the roots to rot. The beauty of the night is in fact very sensitive to water stagnation that can be generated by these situations. For this reason, watering must take place mainly in the early morning, or immediately after sunset. In winter, watering must be regulated in relation to the climate and the environment in which the plant is located. In any case, they must always be constant and abundant.

The cultivation of Bella di Notte

The beauty of the night has strong tropical origins, therefore their correct cultivation requires constant sun exposure. For the same reason, the ideal climate is that of tropical origin, i.e. with fairly warm temperatures. The soil must be fertile and sufficiently rich in organic matter, as well as being well drained and moist. The ideal period for germination is spring, during which the roots strengthen and the leaves develop. During the summer, the proliferation of flowers occurs and the splendid blossoming of flowers, with the most variegated colors. When the autumn and winter months arrive, it is good to shelter the beauty at night, so as not to allow her to encounter too rigid and cold temperatures, of which she is particularly sensitive.

The right fertilization of the soil

Although the beauty of the night is not particularly demanding, it is good to always guarantee it a fairly fertile and well fertilized soil. In fact, this can significantly affect the luxuriance of the plant, especially during the spring and summer months. For this purpose, the fertilization of the soil must take place constantly especially during the flowering period, i.e. during the months of July and August. In order to start a good fertilization it is sufficient to dilute the liquid organic-based products in the water used for watering, and put them in the ground at least a couple of times every month. The liquid fertilizer must contain elements based on nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Sometimes it is also indispensable and useful to add elements of magnesium and calcium,

Belle at night: Diseases and possible remedies

The beauty of the night is perhaps one of the common plants most prone to attack by various types of parasites. In the first place we find the aphids, which attach themselves to the stem of the plant and to the corresponding leaves, sucking the sap and causing the progressive degeneration of the foliage, buds and flowers. Following an attack of aphids, the plant is often weakened, and therefore it is good to proceed with a good fertilization of the soil and with a defense through specific pesticides. Pesticides must be sprayed on the leaves as soon as you notice a yellowing of the plants and its curling. Another attack that can receive a beautiful night is that which derives from the spread of fungi, called fumaggini, which undermine the integrity of the leaves. Particular attention must also be paid to the roots, which are often subject to root rot caused by water stagnation. Not too abundant waterings could be a good and simple solution.
