Origin and characteristics

Our protagonist is a climber from Mexico and Venezuela whose scientific name is Solandra maxima. It is popularly known as the giant trumpeter, solandra, gold cup, trumpet plant. It can reach ten meters in height if it is supported, and its stems sprout elliptical and oval dark green leaves. The flowers, which normally sprout in winter but may appear in spring, are trumpet-shaped, yellow and aromatic.

Its growth rate is very fast, so it is convenient to trim its stems regularly so that it does not get out of control.
