How to irrigate

Proper watering of Zantedeschia is a key point to treat the plant perfectly and let it grow healthily. It is necessary to water abundantly only during the vegetative period of the plant, therefore, during the hottest months of the year. Furthermore, it is essential to always try to recreate a rather humid environment around the Zantedeschia, accustomed to growing in places with a warm climate. It is possible to vaporize demineralized water around the foliage or use a saucer that is filled with expanded clay and water which evaporating will provide the plant with the required humidity. The wetting must be progressively decreased until it is almost completely stopped starting from the beginning of the vegetative rest.

How to cure zantedeschia

As for the exposure of the Zantedeschia, it is good to place the plant in a particularly sunny place where it can enjoy direct sunlight for at least 6 hours a day. In any case, the plant will tend to bloom quite well even in the event of exposure in shady or semi-shaded places. The pruning of the Zantedeschia is not essential, but it is still recommended to remove the dried leaves and flowers in order to avoid infestation by insects or parasites. To carry out the multiplication of the plant it is good to proceed by division or by sowing. The division must be practiced towards the end of the vegetative period. If you intend to proceed with the reproduction of Zantedeschia by seed, however, it is recommended to sow during the warm months of the year.

How to fertilize

The fertilization of the Zantedeschia can take place in two different ways depending on whether the plant is grown in the ground or in pots. In the first case it is possible to fertilize using slow release granular fertilizers specific for flowering plants or tomatoes. Usually these fertilizers have a higher potassium content than nitrogen and phosphorus and must be supplied to the plant once every 3 months or so. If, on the other hand, our Zantedeschia is grown in pots, it is good to use a liquid fertilizer. This fertilizer will be diluted with irrigation water and supplied to the plant about once every 15 days. Furthermore, for the fertilization of Zantedeschia it is also possible to proceed through the use of foliar fertilizers which are very effective and fast.

Zantedeschia: Diseases and Remedies

Zantedeschia is a plant that manages to resist attacks by insects or mites quite well. However, it is possible that it is infested with scale insects or aphids. In the first case it will be possible to notice white and floury spots on the underside of the leaves. These stains will be removed by using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. If the Zantedeschia is attacked by aphids, or plant lice, it is necessary to proceed with the use of a special pesticide. Spider mite is another pest that could attack the plant, especially in hot, dry weather. To combat this parasite, the most effective method is the use of specific insecticides. IS’ Zantedeschia may also encounter diseases caused by bad cultivation methods. For example, it is possible to cause the root rot of the plant if you proceed with excessive wetting.
