The man and the flowers

Man, understood as an animal species, has always been in close contact with nature, which is actually its creator. In fact, it is an extraordinary derivative of that evolutionary power with which nature has created everything that surrounds us, and ourselves; even if in the last fifty years the human being has increasingly moved from natural life to that in the city (where nature unfortunately is even crushed and eliminated), the previous thousands and thousands of years lived in close contact with it do not forget easily: here it is therefore that in the human soul it is common to see a rise of energy and joy when we are in contact even with only a potted flower we have on the balcony. The whole nature, but above all the vegetal nature, has in fact an extremely positive influence on us, made of a great ability to distract our soul from the stress that we continually accumulate during life in society; this, among the many consequences, has led more and more people to choose to make huge sacrifices but to absolutely have a private garden near their home, because that “corner of paradise” is really essential to have a bit of that serenity that the scent of a flower and its colors know how to give us.

Meaning of flowers

A characteristic that has always distinguished man and his great intelligence is the desire to personalize anything, from the most important to the most banal; and in fact with plants and flowers it is the same: an example may be that through scientific research in the biological field man has come to be able to color roses in any color, “overriding” what nature had done. Regardless of whether it is right or wrong, it is too much of a God-given attempt that affects many thoughts. Another example, more personal and fortunately less demanding, is that of the meaning of flowers: flowers give emotions to man, communicate them, generate them and transmit them in any case, but he wanted to give each species a precise meaning. and more sensible for the single occasion. The result is that the red rose has become the flower of love and passion, the white lily the flower of purity and ecclesiastical occasions, the daisy the flower of friendship, the yellow rose that of jealousy and much more. Added to this are the mythological tales of the past, which, as we shall see, will recur in the theme of this article.

Almond blossom

The almond blossomit is a beautiful flower, with a delicate appearance that grows in the late winter period and which marks the development of the almond tree, anticipating (as normal) the appearance of the fruits. Well, this flower is associated with the noble meaning of “rebirth”: rebirth of life, rebirth of the person, rebirth of a project or a love and all other possible interpretations. All this is due to the fact that the almond blossom, which in appearance can be associated with all spring flowers such as peach, apricot, etc., is the first of the spring flowers to be seen: in fact, with climates not very cold, it can appear even before the end of February, clearly before all the others by about a month, because in fact before the last decade of March it is difficult for the flowers to show themselves on the fruit trees (also because they would risk disappearing due to some frost, Nature has thought of everything). Obviously this has been interpreted and adapted by man to his needs, which see the flower as a symbol of a life that is born and / or reborn, especially in those positive situations such as important healings or other very happy events.

Greek mythology

The almond blossomit already carries with it a beautiful meaning, which is used a lot for gifts on many occasions; however it must be said that the flower is really very beautiful and delicate, which makes it very valuable even as a simple gift or combination, especially for the female audience. Well, we like to combine this with a story from ancient Greek mythology that sees the almond tree as the protagonist; it attempts to explain why the branches of the almond tree have flowers but not leaves (at least during the flowering period). It is said that a young Greek princess named Phyllis (or Filli) killed herself because she feared that she had been abandoned by her betrothed as he (engaged in war) had not returned in time for the wedding; But Athena was compassionate and turned her into a bare almond tree. When the betrothed returned from the battles and knew things had happened, he went to hug that almond tree, and as he hugged him he cried; these tears turned into flowers as soon as they touched the tree, and that is why there is a bare tree but with well-developed flowers. Among other things, the almond blossoms have a very short duration of one week, and have also taken on meanings of fragility for this reason; it is then noted that in this short week they change color, rapidly passing from light pink to a very pure white, before falling off.
