The cost of the brick depends largely on the results of the tests that verify the quality and resistance of building materials: these test the resistance of the bricks to compression, water, humidity and traction, porosity, etc. For example, the compressive strength test consists of subjecting the brick to a greater load (until the breaking load is reached). The cost of bricks also varies according to the material they are made of (concrete, brick, etc.), the type of processing and the size. The bricks can be perforated (with a percentage of holes up to 25% of the total volume), semi-perforated or solid. Obviously, this last category includes all the bricks that are without holes or, at the most, with a percentage of perforation less than 15% of the total volume. The most used solid bricks fall within the UNI 5628-65 classification, characterized by measures of 5.5 × 12 × 25 cm. Consequently, the number of pieces per square meter will be reduced and there will be a lower cost for the purchase of bricks. Furthermore, there are countless facing bricks on the market, precisely due to the fact that they have to offer a wide variety of aesthetic solutions. For example, their thickness varies from a minimum of 20 mm to a maximum of 55 mm, and they are embellished with color effects originating from the use of different clays, sands and firings. However, these particular characteristics do not greatly affect the cost of the bricks.
