Fruit infusions

The infusions

The infusions are preparations that are exploited in herbal medicine and phytotherapy by extracting the active ingredients from plants, flowers, fruit, by immersion in boiling water. The infusion is usually made by boiling a quantity of water that should correspond to one cup, therefore about 200 ml. The boiling should last about 10 minutes, after which the active parts should be added to the water: the leaves, the flowers, the roots, the peel. The infusion should last between 5 and 10 minutes. At the end of the infusion time, you should proceed with the filtration to eliminate the residues of the substances put in immersion. To obtain greater effectiveness, the vegetable parts to be infused could be minced.

Fruit infusions


It is possible to make fruit infusions using many different varieties even if the most used are oranges, lemons, kiwis, strawberries, pomegranate, pineapple, blueberries, cherries, apples, peaches and melons. Knowing the fruit it would be possible to prepare different infusions, with the possibility of mixing fruit, vegetables and various types of plants and flowers. The vegetable most used to provide freshness and taste is cucumber, which thanks to its characteristic of having a high percentage of water, performs a useful diuretic function. Other possible additions to the infusion could be mint, rosemary, vanilla, thyme, sage, and lavender, plants able to provide useful active ingredients, but also to enhance the taste with their particular aromas.

Fruit infusions


Infusions could be made with various types of different combinations, such as preparing an infusion with half a cup of strawberries and an orange peel without the white part, to be left to infuse in boiling water for an hour. The infusion would be useful to be able to stimulate the metabolism, since strawberry and orange contain very few calories, but are very rich in vitamin C. Another infusion that you can make, could be composed of lemon juice, pineapple juice and lime juice. Alternatively, you could take 2 liters of water, half a cucumber, which should be sliced, 10 mint leaves, 2 lemon slices and let it steep overnight. This infusion should subsequently be consumed lukewarm.

Beneficial fruit infusions


An interesting infusion could be made with blueberries. You should take a package of blueberries, both fresh and frozen, 2 cups of pomegranate seeds and 2 liters of water. The water should be brought to a boil, then the pomegranate seeds and blueberries should be infused and left to infuse for 2 hours. The infusion is useful because both blueberries and pomegranate contain many carotenoids, flavonoids, anthocyanins that perform a very useful antioxidant function. To strengthen the capillaries, an infusion could be made consisting of a lemon cut into slices, 6 cherries, a sprig of mint. For the preparation, the ingredients should be infused in a liter of boiling water and left to soak for 30 minutes.
