Garden shredder

Garden chores

The garden is something so coveted not only because it is a surplus that guarantees a great increase in the beauty of the house, but also because it is purely a huge life enhancer for the family that lives it every day. In fact, the garden offers a number of more possibilities that would be difficult to find in other ways; an example is the greater space it guarantees for parties, family and friends reunions, for children’s games (to whom an open and safe space will be very congenial where they can use all their energies, both in terms of growth that of educational play). But in reality the garden offers, above all to parents, that is to the «grown-ups», the possibility of engaging in activities strictly connected to nature and to their own property, such as taking care of the garden; no matter how big it is,

Equipment needed

As for every job, for every hobby and for every pastime, having the right equipment is something essential; in the absence of this component, even the person with the most passion and desire to do sooner or later finds himself «giving up», because it is also right that certain activities are done with the most appropriate means. The same thing obviously applies to the garden and the hobby linked to it, known by all as the “green thumb”; in particular, the garden and the activities we carry out there are a small-scale replica of that hard but extremely satisfying and noble work that our grandparents and all our ancestors did in the fields. The work of the land has been inherent in our traditions for centuries, rediscovering it through the garden of our terraced house is however a rapprochement to what we carry inside, and that is why when we practice this activity we feel more serene and satisfied from within the soul. The spade, the shovel, the sledgehammer, the rake, the hoe and the wheelbarrow are those cult objects that we will always find in any field, and that could really make us comfortable even in our garden. Of course, you also need space to store them, but they are the basic equipment for any work related to the earth.

Garden shredder

The shredder is a garden tool with unexpectedly high utility, capable of rendering us various services with extreme simplicity. It looks like a motorized machine (with electric power or with the classic internal combustion engine and fuel, we will see later) that uses the force of some shovels to grind and reduce the garden residues into small (and very small) fragments. What the shredder does is take dry leaves, broken or pruned twigs, plants and pieces of plants eliminated by death or other and reduce them through their blades into small pieces, to perform various functions: first of all by reducing them into small pieces they take up less space and are easier to cram and / or dispose of, but it is also true that these shredded residues can be used for the so-called «composting»: this operation allows, if carried out by following simple but fundamental rules and precautions, to “transform” the above-mentioned garden waste with a natural process into a very powerful fertilizer, effective on all plants and also completely natural. It is a natural digestion, and it is clear that breaking it down into small pieces helps digest better and faster, just like we do with food.

Models and utilities

The shredders are all roughly the same from the point of view of the function, since they are the protagonists of a simple operation and therefore with few variables; what can change is both the type of power supply and the power. As for the power supply, we have already mentioned previously that it can be with an electric motor (and therefore with a battery or direct connection to the electrical network) or with an internal combustion engine, more noisy but also with infinite duration and use in any place. The use of a shredder to clean the garden and at the same time to create the composting material is an intelligent method, as we recover what would have been thrown away to have a fertilizer which then guarantees us more health and productivity to our plants;
