Flowers and plants in nature

Plants are one of those few things that despite having existed for a very long time, always manages to surprise our mind and our senses; in fact, plants exist in many varieties and it may happen that we come across a new species that we had never seen before, but in everyday reality the plants we encounter most often are always the same, that is the most common ones in our climatic zone or in any case the most common ones in general. They do not change one iota, as all of us are in continuous evolution but slow and very progressive, so it is not their changes that amaze us, but it is that «nonsocché» that has always linked human beings and plants in a particular relationship , a little unbalanced towards us humans. In fact it is true that we take care of the plants and keep them healthy in various gardens and places, but it is also true that we destroy many of them on the altar of the growing population and also on some production processes that require wood or other parts of the plants. same; for their part, plants provide us with the oxygen without which we could not live, produced in the extraordinary process of chlorophyll photosynthesis. It is a totally natural thing, but the fact that we destroy more and more plants will sooner or later also begin to affect the air we breathe, therefore it is always good to have an attitude of great respect for all of nature and for plants, also because they they really give us much more than we give them. but it is also true that we destroy many of them on the altar of the growing population and also on some production processes that require wood or other parts of the plants themselves; for their part, plants provide us with the oxygen without which we could not live, produced in the extraordinary process of chlorophyll photosynthesis. Furnishing plants

The special relationship that binds humans and plants that we were describing in the previous paragraph has led to endow our homes with the positive presence of plants, both inside and just outside. In fact, many people make sacrifices to have private gardens outside the home, but many others, perhaps with less possibilities or simply by personal choice, decide to «cultivate» their passion and love for plants and nature at home, with balcony planters. and windows and with vases scattered around the house in almost strategic points that we prefer. There is a less scientific classification of the plant world that collects numerous species under a group called «furnishing plants»: it represents these species united by aesthetic and functional characteristics capable of making them survive very well in the internal environment of our homes. Sometimes it is a question of plants which, by nature, adapt well to changing their natural survival climate a lot, perhaps due to hybridizations and various crossings over time; at other times, however, they are real plants that could not live in an external environment, for example those of tropical origin such as the Orchid, which grows in nature in the undergrowth of tropical forests, sheltered from air, light and bad weather with enormous canopy of large trees, so it is «indoor» almost like in an apartment, so it fits very well. perhaps due to hybridizations and various crossings over time; at other times, however, they are real plants that could not live in an external environment, for example those of tropical origin such as the Orchid, which grows in nature in the undergrowth of tropical forests, sheltered from air, light and bad weather with enormous canopy of large trees, so it is «indoor» almost like in an apartment, so it fits very well. perhaps due to hybridizations and various crossings over time; at other times, however, they are real plants that could not live in an external environment, for example those of tropical origin such as the Orchid, which grows in nature in the undergrowth of tropical forests, sheltered from air, light and bad weather with enormous canopy of large trees, so it is «indoor» almost like in an apartment, so it fits very well.

Lily

In this article we talk specifically about one of the most common plants as a houseplant, but also used very often as a gift and also as a symbol of many ceremonies and special events in our lives: the lily. This plant is very famous for its large, brightly colored and above all fragrant flowers; what is striking is also the great elegance and the majestic bearing that this small plant manages to have, thanks to the erect flower stems and strong enough to «bear» abundant and large inflorescences, given that the lily flower (which is called lily simply, practically identifying itself with the plant itself) can reach up to fifteen centimeters in diameter at the maximum opening of the petals. The name «lily», it must be specified, is the vulgar name of this plant, whose scientific name is «lilium», and designates a plant closely related to Iris and also belonging to the genus Liliaceae. As we have already mentioned, the name of lily indicates more than anything else the flower, even if it is the name of the plant, because the flower is the most recognizable part of the species in question; in general, the plant can reach two meters in height, but most of the time it stops at about one meter. In its original environment, which we remember to be an extensive belt that runs from Europe to Asia and goes as far as North America all in a temperate climate, you can see large perennials and many very close and spectacular inflorescences. and designates a plant closely related to Iris and also belonging to the genus Liliaceae. Lily structure and bulbs

Beyond what one might believe, and after we will see why, the lily is a plant with perennial roots, or roots that remain alive even if the whole external part of the plant dies in the non-vegetative period, laying the foundations, with the appropriate especially climatic conditions, to a «rebirth» in the favorable season. In fact, the Lilium is a bulb plant, that is, it has a bulb that arises just underground and from which the roots come out (downwards, of course) and the stem or stems with the flowers upwards. Around the bulb there are scales that can be seen at the base of the plant and which are often used to distinguish between the various species, in addition to the shape and the characteristic colors of the flowers. Now, a special feature of all plants with bulbs is that all parts of the plant other than the bulb die, once the vegetative season is over, only to be reborn from the stem itself the following year; this means that the stem will appear as the only part to remain alive, as the flowers and stems dry out (but this is quite common) and so do the roots. The lily, as we mentioned earlier, however, is particular precisely because its roots remain alive and attached to the bulb, until the season that will allow its rebirth. Another typical behavior related to plants with bulbs is that, once the leaves, flowers and roots have fallen, they are removed from the ground and stored in a place that is not too cold but above all dry, because there is the custom of removing the bulbs from the ground as they could rot there if they do not produce anything; at this point it is automatic to think that instead the lily should not be removed once the visible part of the plant has disappeared, even if objectively it is not nice to see a vase without any plant: the most common mistake is precisely that of considering the plant of dead lily because all the external visible has fallen, so weed out the bulb and maybe throw it away. We strongly advise you to leave the bulb there without even touching it until at least the following season, as a seedling could slowly be reborn as this is the natural cycle. even if objectively it is not nice to see a vase without any plant: the most common mistake is precisely that of considering the lily plant dead because all the visible external has fallen, then weed out the bulb and maybe throw it away.
