Hedges with flowers

The hedge with flowers

The hedge with flowers is a barrier composed of several plants, which can be of three types: evergreen, climbing and deciduous. In the summer, the flowering hedge floods your garden with buds and colored flowers, which with their scent, will give serenity to visitors while, from an aesthetic point of view, they will give a touch of elegance to your green area. However, many flowering plants have the defect of losing their leaves in the autumn, leaving a tangle of branches that is not beautiful to see. On the contrary, the evergreens, in winter do not lose their leaves and in summer, like the others, they will fill your garden with colors, with their colorful flowers and bright berries. These differences mean that the choice is dictated more by personal taste than by necessity.

Hedge with deciduous flowers

This type of hedge with flowersit is perfect for delineating areas that are mainly exploited in the summer period, (such as a swimming pool or a wood-burning oven) and where activities are carried out alone or in company, avoiding the eye of any passers-by. Plants with abundant and colorful flowering are chosen, which fill the garden with colors and scents. Lilac, Japanese quince and forsythia are the plants that are most often chosen, since they are easy to grow shrubs, do not require special care and are not damaged by the cold. The barrier that will be obtained is not very thick, on the contrary it is very fine and often not thick. Roses, abelias and weigelia are also used for this hedge and if your favorite color is pure white, the angel flower, deutzia and spirea are perfect.

Hedge with evergreen or climbing flowers

The evergreen is suitable if the garden is also used in the winter period, in fact it does not lose the leaves, it does not give the feeling of neglect typical of the autumn period, without, however, giving up the beauty and elegance of a hedge in full bloom. ‘summer. Among the most common plants we have: the pyrancanta and the cataneasta, although lately, the mahania is taking hold, which with its abundant flowering and its yellow flowers scented with honey, enchants the guests. For the climbing family, in the first place we have the trachelospermum jasminoides, or white jasmine (or also called evergreen jasmine) that loves the heat and produces cascades of flowers. Beautiful are also the wisteria, with its clusters of small purple flowers and their light scent and the bougainvillea,

Not all plants share the same flowering period and also for hedges, depending on the variety, you will have to anticipate or postpone the branching, depending on the new budding. Some plants will bloom again on old wood, this implies that the preparation for flowering will begin in the autumn season and therefore the branching will take place as soon as the plant withers. Others, on the contrary, prefer to germinate on new wood, therefore, it is necessary to cut the old and excess branches in the winter period, stimulating the plant to produce more new branches, on which it will bud in spring. It is essential to know the plants that make up the hedge better, if in doubt it is better to contact your trusted nursery before pruning, otherwise you risk damaging the re-flowering of the hedge irreparably.
