The lime tree

The linden is a widely used plant in phytotherapy thanks not only to its beneficial properties, but also to the ease of use and finding: the herbal tea is one of the most effective and simplest solutions to prepare, while the linden is an ornamental plant present also in many gardens, which allows the preparation of herbal tea even in the home environment. Another feature that favors the spread of this plant is its ease of cultivation, as it is able to adapt to the most diverse types of environments. The lime tree is a tall tree native to the northern hemisphere, which however is not uncommon to find in our areas and which is now a very common cultivation, as well as a spontaneous species. For its majestic and elegant appearance, the lime tree is widely used as a decorative element, especially in large spaces, to which it provides shade and which it enriches with the delicate scent of its flowers; in the phytotherapeutic field, the leaves and flowers are usually exploited, which grow in inflorescences between June and July. Before use, the flowers and leaves are dried in the shade. Unlike the herbal tea, the decoction for external use also uses the courtship of the youngest branches of the plant, with astringent properties and used to treat intestinal infections.

The properties of the lime tree


Among the main uses of linden herbal tea, the relaxing one stands out: the linden is an extremely effective remedy to combat insomnia and nervous states. Its relaxing and calming properties make it an ideal plant for the preparation of a tasty drink to be consumed shortly before going to bed, to promote rest even in periods of high stress. Secondly, the lime tree can be exploited for its expectorant properties, being curative for flu symptoms and seasonal ailments. Although we are used to thinking of herbal tea as a product for internal use only, as regards the linden herbal tea there are other beneficial functions: from direct application on the eyelids, for example, the eyes can benefit deeply, reducing the swelling of the eyelids themselves and any irritation. Used on the face, linden herbal tea is also an excellent remedy for cleansing the face, the effects of which are visible after just a few uses. Preparation


For the preparation of herbal teas, the parts of the plant richer in the active ingredient are usually used: this makes it possible to obtain a highly effective natural preparation. Alternatively, on the market there are herbal teas to be prepared starting from the dried aerial parts of the plant: it will be sufficient to immerse the preparation in hot water for a few minutes and filter everything to obtain a tasty herbal tea and, as seen, with a thousand different uses. To obtain the best result, the herbal tea with the areas in immersion must be brought to a boil before consumption, which will take place after a few minutes of infusion to allow the water to soak up the active ingredients contained in the plant parts placed in immersion.

Linden herbal tea: Contraindications


Often one is led to think that products directly deriving from natural elements, as such, cannot entail contraindications: this is an error to be avoided and it is better to carefully inquire about the specific characteristics of the plant and the product you want to use, especially if , as in the case of herbal teas, for greater effects it is necessary to prolong the intake of the product over time. As far as linden herbal teas are concerned, an important general rule applies to all products of natural origin: before consuming high doses it is necessary to be sure not to have allergic reactions to the active ingredients, present in large quantities in natural products and consequently even in herbal teas. Prolonged consumption in sensitive individuals can cause skin reactions.
