Organic fertilizer

The life of the garden

The garden of our house is a real ecosystem, in which every little part is important for the life of the whole; many of the things found in our garden are unknown to us who are the owners and who live and feel it as “ours”. In fact, among thousands of microscopic living beings and perhaps millions of bacteria and other forms of life, our garden stands thanks to the negative and positive actions carried out by these other «inhabitants»; and we absolutely must not be frightened by the word «bacterium» or the like, because they are indispensable for the balance of life: the pyramid of life is made up of all living beings, because even the mosquito has its own why in the world, it is not to be eradicated only because its bites cause us humans itch. Precisely because Nature has its own laws and its own balance, always using natural products is the best thing; it is clear there are situations in which one cannot do without artificial products (such as medicines for serious diseases), but in general the naturalness of a product is a guarantee for success without side effects of any kind and often even with little expense .

Why fertilize

Despite all the efforts, commitment and ideas that we put into the care of our garden, it will only be a replica of the true nature that surrounds us; in fact, for example, if a mole or a mouse tries to «stay» even for a few days in our garden, it is certain that we will go hunting to eliminate them. But in nature they would be free to fulfill their destiny and their function, therefore without all this it would not be true nature. The same goes for plants and for the earth they live in, that is, it does not undergo all the changes and other things as in a real nature, so it requires integration from the outside. In practice, the excrement of a mouse, the growth of a spontaneous plant, the nesting of a bird, the carcass of an animal, the presence of bees, flowers and wasps are all natural scenes which, however, enrich the earth with those substances which then make it perfect for every plant. If in our garden we avoid all this, then it will be essential to integrate nutrients to our land: this is nothing more than the fertilization operation, very useful to give the plants a land as rich as possible in vital force and nutrients.

Organic fertilizer

We all know very well that in the very modern DIY, do-it-yourself and gardening shops there are thousands of fertilization products on sale, differentiated for every type of soil, condition and plant species. They are the result of botanical science and chemical research, and they perform their task very well. But before we mentioned the naturalness of the things that surround us, that it is always good to try the natural solution before the artificial one, but in the field of fertilization is there naturalness? Of course, the answer is organic fertilizer: it is a mixture of natural substances rich in nutrients for soil and plants, without any chemical additions or anything else. It seems absurd then that there are people who buy the artificial when there is this, but for practicality and economy the artificial is unbeatable. But the effectiveness, the purity and naturalness of the organic fertilizer make the difference and many people with green thumbs notice their plants much healthier. The organic fertilizer is made up of excrements of farm animals (cows, horses, etc.), earth of various kinds, remnants of plants such as dry leaves and withered flowers and other natural residues that simulate the natural fertilization process of the earth just as it happens in natural cycle of things.

The compost

Since organic fertilizer is nothing more than a set of natural substances made to amalgamate and ferment (in some cases), people have had the brilliant idea of self-producing this fertilizer; thus the concept of compost was born. Compost is the natural fertilizer derived from the mixing of classic soil, vegetable food waste (fruit skins, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes and more), garden processing waste (dry leaves and weed plants), animal meat waste (in very small percentage, otherwise stench and other inconveniences develop) and some tricks such as coffee grounds which have great fertilizing power for many plants. All this, left to amalgamate in a jar with holes in the bottom for the liquid outlet, duly watered (but not soaked) and turned with a small shovel daily, it will take on a scent of fresh and healthy earth and can be used as a fertilizer to add to the earth if “seasoned for three or four months, while it can constitute the soil if required to rest for six, seven or eight months. There are books of advice and instructions for producing good compost, but above all composters are on sale, that is containers designed to produce compost and therefore with holes, ventilation and vents suitable for the purpose.
