Garden man relationship

If we analyze the whole history of the relationship between the human being and his home garden, we see that it has a fluctuating and varied trend depending on which historical period it goes through; however, this discourse refers to a relatively recent time, let’s say from the middle of the last century to today. Among other things, in this period of time it was truly possible to admire a huge change in culture, in society, in our entire world. In fact, if our great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents could in the years just following the Second World War devote themselves to a new work of material and non-material reconstruction of their society and at the same time still enjoy the benefits of their passion and ancient link with the cultivation of the land in all its forms (therefore also that of the home garden), our grandparents and parents could not do it or in any case the current of thought of their generation was that of turning towards the city, with office occupations and above all with the construction of modern apartment blocks and therefore apartment life; so maybe the garden wasn’t even that desired. Today, on the other hand, we are returning to a deep desire for the garden near our home, to establish a direct relationship with nature, but for very different reasons from the time: we are getting closer to nature because it is the best anti-stress, because we are submerged by ‘ asphalt, computers and all the stress they cause in our lives. with office occupations and above all with the construction of modern apartment blocks and therefore apartment life; so maybe the garden wasn’t even that desired. The garden as a hobby

So how is it that we see the garden today? In the previous paragraph we mentioned it: today it is a way to release stress, to distract us from the chaos and rush of our life and to chase away bad thoughts once we get to the first day. This, for those who have sharpened their intuition a little, is not the description of the work in the garden, but this is the description of a hobby! Yes, because in our culture today, more than gardening is back in vogue, the culture of hobbies, pastimes, of those various activities that we are passionate about and that take away those small but fundamental satisfactions: boat built by us, fly the plane, admire the portrait of our partner, see the plant we planted grow… and many others. Gardening, one of the most appreciated and effective hobbies, is part of this picture, as it can also engage us physically, giving us that tiredness at the end of the activity which is however so healthy. Not only that, its effectiveness is clearly linked to the close contact it allows us to have with nature, which has an extraordinary effect on us all.

Do it yourself pergolas

We talked about the garden as a favorite hobby of many people, but this recreational and regenerative activity (above all) does not only mean watering the plants, transferring flowers, fertilizing the earth and shoveling it. One of the most common things a garden owner likes to think about is to furnish it, improve it, add or replace an item in that corner to give it a whole new look. This has always been the case: anyone who owns a garden knows that one would never stop going to shops and shopping centers to gather new inspirations and furnishing ideas for our garden, and consequently it is never fully furnished, at least for its owner. Pergolas are a very common piece of furniture among gardens, and especially in widespread use; they are able to furnish large spaces with simplicity and elegance, also the result of the use of very thick wood as the basic material for their construction. The pergolas are used to create open «rooms» inside the garden, or real antechambers between the garden itself and the entrance to the adjoining house; and for their constructive simplicity, the pergolas are excellent as a subject of do-it-yourself.

Building a pergola

Do-it-yourself is a hobby in itself: we dedicate ourselves to small household activities for which most people call specialized technicians, while those who practice this pastime love to spend ten times the same time but also love the satisfaction of being successful in those little big businesses. DIY applied to the home garden is very common, and in the case of pergolas it is becoming more and more so. The pergola has a very simple structure, made up of a series of pergolas (very refined pillars of various materials) placed side by side to delimit a usually closed space. Anyone who is a little familiar with manual work, who knows how to position everything so that it does not collapse at the first gust of wind, who knows how to hit a nail with a hammer without amputating his finger … well, he can certainly build his own arbor in his own home. However, it is necessary to buy pergolas, which are very often sold in specialized shops in the sector, rather than in those bricolage and do-it-yourself centers where it is much easier to find entire pergolas.
