Gardening and passion

Gardening is now a widespread activity worldwide, capable of attracting millions and millions of people thanks to the prospect of a healthy activity for the body and mind and above all in contact with nature. This last aspect is of great importance in the appreciation that is instinctively given to gardening; in fact the human being, as a species from the scientific point of view, has grown in contact with nature and above all always taking what she offered to survive and evolve. Let’s say that therefore a special bond has been established between us humans and nature, slightly (or perhaps a lot) overshadowed by the migration in the cities of the last century but which instead comes out strongly when you engage in activities such as gardening that awaken the desire to be in contact with nature. As we said before it is an «instinctive» thing, we also add «unconscious», because it is all dictated by the positive remnants of the history of our evolution that we always carry with us in our DNA. This is why gardening is an increasingly widespread passion in the world; it’s almost like we need it to temporarily unplug all those stressful activities that fill our daily life. because it is all dictated by the positive remnants of the history of our evolution that we always carry with us in our DNA. Plant care

Despite everything we have said in the first paragraph, which is supported and confirmed by scientific and university studies both in the psychological and sociological fields, we must not think that gardening is a restful activity; absolutely not, it is demanding both from a physical and mental point of view, however it has around it an aura of positivity dictated by the contact with nature already discussed that conquers more and more people. In general, taking care of plants is a complete activity from many points of view, which clearly requires organization but which if done well can give a lot of satisfaction without being heavy. An example is the watering of plants: in the hottest periods of the year, especially for us Italians who often experience very long and dry summers, there is the «obligation» to water the plant daily and at specific times, either early in the morning or late in the evening, or when the sun is less strong, otherwise there is a risk of burning the surface of the plant. For many, this everyday life can become heavy, but in the evening it is so pleasant to take a stroll even just outside on the balcony, to water the plants and get a little cool: few noises, complete relaxation.

Orchid

Since the orchid is considered to be one of the most popular houseplants, talking about it and how it needs to be cared for means tackling a problem that is important to many people without making a mistake. This plant has a very particular origin, in fact it comes from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, or those typically very humid and warm places where the plant populated the undergrowth with much larger and taller plant species that covered it from direct sunlight. . This reflects exactly the characteristics that the orchid wants to have to live in our apartments: approximately constant temperature and in any case never cold, no direct sun exposure, weak air currents (but always present because water stagnations are very bad for them), high level of humidity (also local, later we will see what we refer to). For the rest, once these characteristics are satisfied, which are nothing transcendental (there are plants, obviously less widespread, which really do not survive if the temperature is not in a very narrow range for example), the orchid has proved to have a survival long and rich even in our homes, with abundant and lasting blooms. Many people replace the plant at the first floral wilt, but with patience and care the orchid can survive the non-flowering season and bloom again later. Seeing is believing! the orchid has been shown to have a long and rich survival even in our homes, with abundant and lasting blooms. Water the orchid: Water the orchid

Among the various advantages of this orchid plant we are dealing with, there is also that of the few operations it needs; everyone knows that it lives in very small pots with little soil, therefore with a good fertilization throughout the year it will be fine and will practically never require repotting. The same happens for pruning: after all, the orchid is a small plant (a main stem without branches, maximum half a meter in height but «full length», without branches and lateral suckers) and just remove the dry leaves to have a plant always good and healthy, without pruning. However, watering must be very careful: first of all the orchid loves the regularity of the water flow, so you must respect schedules and you must water when you notice that the soil is dry. Not only, little water should be poured and never on the parts of the plant as you risk helping the bacteria to pervade it and this is bad. For the same reason, in summer, care must be taken in the nebulisations (useful for increasing the local humidity, as we have said before), concentrating them in the early morning when the temperatures are not very high and therefore the pores of the plant (real «highways» for bacteria) are not yet open.
