White Rose

It is the favorite flower for anniversaries and weddings. It is often found in bridal bouquets and in the hairstyles that adorn the wedding veil. We are talking about the white rose, one of the many varieties of roses to give as gifts or to grow in the garden, both in pots and in the open field. The white rose, so called for the color of its flowers, is an ornamental species belonging to the Rosaceae family. Celebrated by arts, culture and mythology, the white rose has an important significance related to chastity and purity of feelings. Due to its appearance and its bearing it is also suitable for decorating outdoor spaces used as roses, or small open spaces such as balconies or terraces. The cut flower can be used in bridal hairstyles and a beautiful bouquet of white roses is usually the most favorite bouquet for women on their wedding day. The white rose is not a demanding species in terms of care, it is enough to carry out simple cultivation practices to be able to admire it in all its dazzling beauty.

Features


The white rose, as already mentioned in the previous paragraph, belongs to the Rosaceae family, flowering plants including about 150 different species of roses native to Asia and Europe. Like other roses, even the white one has small dark green leaves with toothed edges and a single or solitary flower grouped like an umbrella and with a variable number of petals. The flower of the white rose has a calyx formed by sepals in the center, while the stem is very thorny. The fruit of the white rose is an achene, which forms a plant structure that actually corresponds to a false fruit, called rosehip. Even if it does not have high cultural requirements, the white rose must be cultivated with the same care and attention reserved for other roses and garden plants. Only in this way will it be possible to have healthy roses, luxuriant and with a high ornamental value. Some interventions must be diversified according to the species of rose, even the white ones can be, in fact, bushy, climbing and re-flowering.

Variety


White roses in nature are not easily available, because there are very few of them. However, there are lots of them among the nurserymen. Many of them are obtained from hybrids, i.e. from crosses of roses existing in nature. Among the best known varieties of white rose we remember the avalanche, the escimo, the akito, the mount shasta, the gardenias, the cosmos and the icebergs. Avalanche roses are mainly used as cut flowers and to compose wedding bouquets; the escimo are miniature white roses with a bushy habit :; the ekito have a stem of about sixty centimeters in height and very large flowers; mount shasta are very white and fragrant; the others are always very white and with flowers that have a high number of petals. It also has more than eighty petals another well known and appreciated variety of white rose: jeanne moreau. The white iceberg rose comes from the crossing of two hybrids: Tea and Polyantha. It belongs to the Floribunda family, hybrids created in the 1930s. The white iceberg rose has a double and very fragrant flower, with very shiny green leaves that enhance its ornamental effect. Cultivation


White roses, when grown correctly, can give buds and flowers of undeniable ornamental value. They can be planted both in pots and in open fields, paying close attention to the fertilizer, which determines the development of the plant, and to the sun exposure, on which most of the flowering of this rose depends.
