Home remedies for cracked and dry heels

During the summer months it is very common for our heels to dry out and crack. And it is that we walk barefoot, we wear footwear such as flip flops and sandals and it negatively affects the skin in the heel area, especially.

Other causes of cracked heels can be lack of good hygiene in the area, lack of zinc or Omega-3, dehydration , overweight problems, athlete’s foot or diabetes, so cracked heels can occur permanently and get worse during the hottest months. In extreme cases, cracked heels can even become infected, so we must avoid them, and if we already have them we must treat them as soon as possible and be constant.

Before applying any cream or oil make sure your feet are well cleaned.

What home remedies do we suggest for cracked and dry heels?

  • Put your feet in a basin with warm water for 15 minutes and add 10 drops of essential oil of tea tree, oregano, lavender, lemon or thyme. This will help prevent infection and clean your feet properly. Then dry them well and apply one of the remedies listed below. You can do it every day.
  • A gentle and effective scrub when used on a regular basis is baking soda. This way we remove dead cells without applying aggressive methods. Later we will apply one of the oils indicated below.
  • Massage your feet twice a day with coconut oil . It has great properties to regenerate the skin, hydrate it and take care of it. You have to be constant and apply it at least twice a day.
  • The olive oil is another great natural remedy to moisturize and regenerate slowly cracked ankles. Apply it by giving a massage, put on some socks and let it act overnight.
  • Natural gel aloe vera or aloe get the skin to recover, even cracks. You can apply it as many times a day as you can. It will cleanse the area and also stimulate skin regeneration.
  • The oil jojoya is helpful to restore lost moisture skin, apply alternating with the other oils, it is very effective to maintain hydration and prevent dryness. It also softens and regenerates the skin.
  • * If the feet are dry you can use the pumice stone after showering once or twice a week, if they are cracked avoid the pumice stone because it could cause wounds and bleeding.
  • Use shea butter and cocoa butter for smooth, well-nourished and well-cared-for skin. If you apply them twice a day you will notice the changes in a few days.
  • The argan oil besides having the property to clean and promote healing of cracks and wounds that might have, provides elasticity to the skin and promotes regeneration. It also fights fungi.
  • This homemade cream is very effective in improving dry and cracked feet. In just two days you can see big changes if you apply it twice a day with a massage. Beforehand, remember to clean your feet well and exfoliate if necessary.
  • Another option is to add whole sugar to one of these oils, massage the heels and exfoliate while hydrating and nourishing.

 

Applying one of these remedies daily or combining several of them for a few days, you will get soft, hydrated feet without cracks.
