How to make Aloe Vera gel, soap and other therapeutic homemade preparations

Have you ever wondered how Aloe Vera gel is made? We are going to reveal how the gel, aloe vera soap and some other homemade aloe vera preparations are prepared. There are still therapeutic uses and remedies that you are probably unaware of.

What is Aloe vera or Aloe Vera? The Aloe Vera or Aloe ( A. barbadensis ) is a plant with great potential for therapeutic or medicinal use. Aloe provides us with a great supply of nutrients and stimulates the regeneration of cells, which will cause them to delay their aging, you can read more about the properties of Aloe vera .

We are going to see some of its uses for cosmetics and natural health .

If you do not have an aloe vera plant, we recommend this organic aloe vera leaf and you also have many hygiene and cosmetic products for skin and hair with aloe vera . .

Aloe vera gel

The gel is applied externally and we can use it on dry skin, when there are spots, acne, alopecia, wounds, burns, irritations, eczema, psoriasis, insect bites and nettles, dermatitis, cuts, tired feet and legs, arthritis, rheumatism, sprains, aftershave, wrinkles, etc.

We start by removing the gel from the plant. This is achieved by cutting at the base one of the leaves that is outermost and closest to the ground, which should be at least 6 cm wide and about 40 long.

Once we have the leaf or stalk, we wash it and remove the thorns that it presents on each side. If we are going to use aloe at that time, we can simply cut the leaf in half and use it on the area to be treated directly.

Also, once we have cut the aloe leaf in half, the gel can be extracted with a spoon:

To avoid irritations, we must make sure that when dragging the gel with the spoon there is no yellow sap, and if so, we discard it.

If we want to leave the aloe ready to use at another time, one way to preserve it is by cutting it, letting it dry in the sun and storing it in a glass container, in a cool place and where it does not receive direct sunlight. This way you can keep all your properties.

Aloe juice

To make aloe vera juice , we cut a leaf lengthwise and remove the yellow sap, remove the pulp and blend it together with some fruit, preferably those rich in vitamin C such as oranges, tangerines or grapefruits, and add 1 liter of water.

If we want to take full advantage of the properties of aloe, we can also use the outer part of the leaf, which is rich in vitamins and minerals.

We will keep it in the refrigerator and we can take it before meals as a protector against burning, digestive problems, ulcers, etc. .

How to make aloe vera soap

You can easily make  a soap at home with just two ingredients and without using caustic soda. This soap will come in handy to hydrate and regenerate the skin, as well as to disinfect wounds, as an anti-inflammatory, soften the skin, improve eczema, sores, psoriasis, acne, blemishes, and ultimately all the properties that aloe has. .

We simply need 250 g of glycerin soap (which is neutral, without colorants), for every 10 g of aloe vera gel (which we will have beaten or blended). We put the glycerine soap in a water bath in a glass container, and when it is almost completely dissolved, we remove it from the heat, stir well with a wooden spoon and add the aloe vera and continue stirring the mixture well. We fill the molds and when it is solidified we unmold it. It can be started to use immediately.

This is the base formula, if you want to add some essential oil to give the soap other qualities, you can add it at the time you add the aloe vera. If you want the soap to maintain its qualities for longer, you can also add 10 drops of an oil rich in vitamin E, such as argan, coconut, wheat germ and almond oil. Although, as always, it is preferable to make the soap as we need it.
