Flowering indoor plants

On the market there are various types of indoor plants, there are for all tastes and needs. Below we will make a list of the most common and particular ones, which do not need great care but which give great satisfaction. Let’s start with the classics and immediately mention the Anthurium, certainly one of the most famous thanks to the heart-shaped leaves and the very particular inflorescence, usually red. Spathiphyllum, with dark green, glossy leaves and white inflorescence, keeps him company. Those who opt for an Orchid are never wrong. In fact, they are present in almost all the apartments, they are very elegant and bring back to something oriental, on the market there are various types (Phalaenopsis, Dendrobium, Cymbidium, Oncidium etc.), all very particular and easy to care for. If you are looking for something small, the African Violet is very pretty, it blooms often throughout the year and does not need a lot of attention. The Begonia, also highly sought after or the Aphelandra, with particular green leaves with white veins and a yellow flower, not very well known.

Evergreen indoor plants

If what you are looking for is an evergreen indoor plant, your attention must be shifted to plants such as Chamaedorea, with dark green leaves and a bearing that refers to exotic plants (the leaves look like small palms). The Areca, which is very similar to Chamaedorea but more valuable. The Aucuba, with green leaves and streaked with yellow. If you are looking for something special, Calathee are very fascinating and uncommon plants. Coffea (a coffee plant that rarely produces beans) is very exotic. Croton is characterized by its multicolored leaves. The Dracaena Fragrans (the trunk of happiness), certainly very elegant but also very common. The Photos, indicated if you are looking for a hanging plant that does not require great attention. La Schefflera, which reaches considerable heights and is not very «cluttered». The Yucca, with a cylindrical stem and linear and thorny leaves and finally (so to speak) the Pachira, certainly very fascinating and exotic, which attracts everyone thanks to the intertwined stems and very particular leaves. In short, even here there is plenty of choice.

Succulent indoor plants

For all those who do not have much time to devote to the care and maintenance of plants, there are succulents (or succulents). Kalanchoe is one of the best known, it blooms annually and needs some watering from time to time, like all the plants that we are going to list below. The Epiphyllum, very pretty and with a particular flowering. Sedum, with particular leaves and a semi-hanging habit. The Lithops, a set of plants very similar to stones. Crassula, characterized by its succulent leaves and stem. Echeveria, with fleshy leaves and which on the market is often artificially colored. Aloe, as well as ornamental, is also useful in case of sunburn thanks to its properties. Rebutia, with very particular blooms.

Indoor plants: Indoor plants, Bromeliaceae and curiosities

A separate chapter should be dedicated to plants belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, whose peculiarity lies in the flowering, which occurs only once during the course of their life. However, don’t worry, they annually produce sprouts at the base that can be detached and repotted independently, giving life to a new plant which in turn will flower only once and then produce new shoots. They are very particular and not very common plants, just to give some of the most fascinating examples we have Aechmea Fasciata, Guzmania, Tillandsia, Vrisea, and the Pineapple plant (which, however, rarely bears fruit if grown in a domestic environment) . To conclude with a final note, there are many varieties of indoor Bonsai on the market (Ficus, Serissa, Zelkova etc.) but who still need to spend periods outside. Furthermore, for those interested in really very particular plants, on the market there is a fair choice of carnivorous plants (Dionea, Nepenthes, etc.) which in any case need some more care than the rest of the indoor plants.
