LG’s Eco-City Garden Wins Silver Gilt Award at Chelsea Flower Show

LG’s Eco-City Garden has just been awarded a Silver Gilt award at the 2018 Chelsea Flower Show, in the Show Garden category. For this occasion, the acrylic stone from LG Hausys and LG Electronics has worked together with the landscape architect Hay Joung Hwang with the aim of creating the exhibition garden «Eco-City».

Garden to make the most of the space

The garden is designed to be set out in the open air on land of similar dimensions and where blocks of flats can be built around it. In this way, every centimeter of space is used, including the vertical garden that is inside the kitchen. In the outdoor area, at a lower level, is the patio surrounded by a box hedge and with stone steps that lead to the kitchen. At the other end, there are also steps that communicate directly with the rest of the garden: water facilities and an area of ​​natural herbs. At each corner of the hedge there is a cheerful flower bed, full of colorful flowers such as yellow and white lupins, white aquilegia, mandarin-colored Geum and Trollius Lemon Queen.

According to a new report, more than 50,000 people die from pollution in the UK each year. For this reason, the LG Eco-City Garden aims to reduce pollution thanks to specially selected trees, plants and shrubs. Also providing a model that can be reproduced in the tall buildings in the city center.

Coated in Hi-Macs

The entire living space has been clad in HI-MACS® by LG Hausys in the new Shadow Concrete shade, from the Concrete collection. Along with the massive sliding glass doors (provided by Lightfoot Windows), HI-MACS® finishes off this modern building with an exotic and industrial finish.

HI-MACS® is a thermoformable acrylic stone, whose use has become widespread in architectural and interior applications thanks to its modern and elegant aesthetics. In turn, LG Hausys acrylic stone has an extremely high performance, with great resistance to UV rays and allowing a finish without visible joints.

Very cool features

In the garden there is a magnificent outdoor television covered in HI-MACS® in the shades Shadow Concrete, Ebony Concrete & Steel Concrete. The same shades have been used for the relaxing water installations at the rear of the garden. For the rest area of ​​the lower patio, acrylic stone has been used in the Shadow shade, providing a finish that is easy to maintain, innovative materials and a very elegant result. The recent Concrete color collection consists of 5 hues: from pale Urban Concrete to dark Ebony Concrete.

“As the population of our cities has increased and taller and taller buildings have been built, noise and air pollution have also worsened. My design provides a vision for an eco-city and sustainable way of life, with green spaces that can be replicated vertically in these tall buildings. My goal has been to create a living environment that contributes to increasing people’s well-being and significantly reducing air pollution problems, ”says landscape architect Hay Joung Hwang.

Hay’s design shows how a spacious terrace can be seamlessly paired with a splendidly designed Boffi kitchen with LG’s best built-in appliances. Likewise, the exterior part incorporates an area to relax with running water facilities that help eliminate noise pollution and that has the OLED television of LG SIGNATURE, an immersive digital art with real colors and perfect blacks. To complete the collaboration, LG Hausys also provides a luxury vinyl floor for the living area, using an innovative locking system – DECOCLICK – that provides a natural wood look.
